100 grams Jowar (millet) puffs or popcorn

1 onion chopped finely

½ cup chopped carrots

1 small boiled potato chopped

10 pieces of roasted peanuts

2 teaspoons of sugar

2-3 teaspoons of lemon juice

Salt to taste

½ teaspoon ginger grated

1 green chilli chopped (or to taste)

½ teaspoon mustard seeds

5-7 teaspoons curry leaves

2 teaspoons ghee

Garnish with chopped coriander

1. Wash and soak popcorn in a bowl of water. This will wash away all the gritty sand which gets stuck while popping (wash it really well).

2. In a pan heat ghee, add curry leaves and mustard seeds.

3. Add chopped/grated ginger and green chillies.

4. Add the chopped carrots and salt. Cover and cook.

5. Once cooked add the chopped boiled potatoes along with roasted peanuts.

6. Mix well and add sugar, lemon juice and the soaked puffed jowar (millet) pops.

7. Serve topped with coriander and extra peanuts if you like.

8. Serve warm.

Top tips:

  1. Washing the millet pops is very essential as its very gritty and can spoil the taste of the poha.

  2. In case you are fasting, omit the onions and vegetables and stick to boiled potatoes and peanuts along with the tempering.

  3. Best eaten when warm.
